The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by over 500,000 participants and over 50,000 volunteers. The AAU is divided into 57 distinct Districts. These Districts annually sanction more than 34 sports programs, 250 national championships, and over 30,000 age division events.
Basketball Philosphy The team concept is an absolute necessity for our athletes. We teach a style of play that requires tremendous intensity on defense and total unselfishness on offense. We demand that the student athlete be in great mental and physical condition. We spend numerous hours with the student athlete to develop their individual basketball abilities. Our program utilizes several highly trained individual instructors to work with each player to help take their game to the next level.
Success Measurements It is our desired outcome that every player that participates in Stay In The Game Basketball attends college, makes wise decisions, and become productive citizens. We want the best for the players in every phase of their lives, both on and off the court. We do not measure our program by the number of games or tournaments we win, but by the number of kids we are able to help fulfill their dreams of going to college and playing the game of basketball. |
